Accessible Palette Generator
Enter a base color and a background color. The generator produces every lightness variation of that hue that meets WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 ratio) against the background, so you can build accessible palettes with confidence.
How This Works
The tool sweeps through every lightness level (10 % to 95 %) of your base color's hue and saturation. Each resulting color is tested against your background for WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 minimum for normal text). Only the colors that pass are shown.
This means every color in the output palette is safe to use as text on your chosen background — or as a background for white or dark text, depending on the lightness.
About WCAG Contrast
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define minimum contrast ratios to ensure text is readable for people with low vision or color deficiencies. AA requires 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA requires 7:1 and 4.5:1, respectively. This tool uses the stricter normal-text threshold.
